Learn structural takeoff using AutoCAD, Excel and QS Auto Pro Tools for concrete, formwork, rebar and BOQ preparation.
What you'll learn
Learn how to complete structural quantity takeoff step by step using AutoCAD, Excel, and QS Auto Pro tools, while saving time compared with manual takeoff.
Use QS Auto Pro tools to measure key structural works, including excavation, lean concrete, footing, pile cap, column, beam, slab, concrete, formwork, and rebar
Apply QS Auto Pro tools to speed up the takeoff process, reduce repetitive work, minimize manual errors, and improve productivity in real QS work.
Prepare clean takeoff sheets and BOQ quantity summaries using QS Auto Pro tools for pricing, checking, tendering, and project documentation.
Requirements
A computer or laptop with AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel installed is recommended. Basic knowledge of construction drawings is helpful, but beginners can still follow the step-by-step lessons. No advanced Quantity Surveying experience is required. QS Auto Pro tools will be demonstrated in the course to help students save time and work faster.
Description
This course teaches a practical and automated structural quantity takeoff workflow using AutoCAD, Excel, and QS Auto Pro Tools. It is designed for Quantity Surveyors, estimators, engineers, contractors, and students who want to reduce manual typing, get takeoff data faster, and prepare clean structural quantities with more confidence.
QS Auto Pro Tools were developed from my 7 years of real Quantity Surveying experience to help automate repetitive takeoff work, connect AutoCAD measurement with Excel data, reduce manual input, improve consistency, and save valuable time on real project workflows.
You will learn how to read structural drawings, check dimensions, measure quantities in AutoCAD, transfer takeoff data into Excel, and review the final results before preparing BOQ quantities. The lessons follow a real step-by-step workflow, not only theory, so you can understand how takeoff is done on actual construction projects.
The course covers key structural elements such as earthworks/base works, pile cap, stump column, beam, and slab takeoff. You will also see concrete, formwork, and rebar quantity workflows, including level checking, size checking, deduction checking, and final quantity verification.
By the end of this course, you will understand how to organize structural takeoff, use AutoCAD and Excel together, apply QS Auto Pro Tools, reduce repetitive manual work, and prepare structural quantities faster and more professionally.
Who this course is for
This course is for Quantity Surveyors, Estimators, Civil Engineers, Construction Students, and anyone who wants to learn structural quantity takeoff using AutoCAD, Excel, and QS Auto Pro tools. It is suitable for beginners who want a step-by-step workflow and also for working QS professionals who want to save time, reduce manual work, and improve takeoff productivity.
